Janelle Kirkland

Janelle Kirkland is an experienced media and communications professional with a comprehensive background in journalism, public relations, and strategic communications. Currently serving as a Senior Media and Communications Officer at the University of the Sunshine Coast since December 2017, Janelle has held multiple roles including Senior Manager, Strategic Communications (Acting) and Media Relations Coordinator. Previously, Janelle worked at the University of Queensland as a Senior Communications Officer, contributing to the Office of Marketing and Communications by sourcing and crafting content for the university’s online platforms. Janelle's career began in journalism with various reporting positions at publications such as Hawke's Bay Today and The Gisborne Herald, complemented by freelance writing ventures and roles in marketing and tender writing. Janelle holds a Graduate Certificate in Communications, Public Relations and Professional Communication from the University of Queensland and a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism Studies from Massey University.
