William Harrison

Chief Internal Auditor at University of Vermont

William Harrison was appointed Chief Internal Auditor in March 2010, reporting directly to the Audit Committee of the University of Vermont board of trustees. Mr. Harrison's role is to report to university leadership and the Board Audit Committee whether the university is following its financial, compliance, and operational policies and procedures.

Prior to joining the university, Mr. Harrison served as the Director of Sponsored Programs Accounting at the Rochester Institute of Technology and the Deputy Associate Inspector General for Audit at the National Science Foundation. Since 2016, Mr. Harrison has also served as president of the Green Mountain Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, an international professional association serving the needs of Vermonters by providing audit training and other professional development opportunities. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Brockport and a Master of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
