Maria Womack

Maria Womack is a highly experienced scientific editor currently serving at the American Astronomical Society (AAS) since January 2020, where contributions also include participation in the Data Tiger Team and serving as Secretary of the Division for Planetary Sciences. Womack holds an affiliate professor position in Astronomy at the University of Victoria and in Physics at the University of Central Florida, while also working as a Research Scientist at the Arecibo Observatory through the Florida Space Institute. Additional roles include serving as Program Director for Atmospheric & Geospace Sciences at the National Science Foundation (NSF) and a previous tenure as Program Director for Astronomical Sciences. Womack has had an extensive academic career at the University of South Florida and St. Cloud State University, where several professorships were held. Womack holds a PhD in Physics from Arizona State University and a BS in Physics from Florida State University.
