Jason Bates

Jason Bates is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia since July 2023. Prior to this role, Jason served as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from January 2020 to June 2023, and as a Graduate Research Assistant at Purdue University from August 2014 to December 2019. Early experience includes a position as a Science Undergraduate Laboratory Intern at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in the summer of 2014, an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Kansas from January 2013 to May 2014, and participation in the NSF REU program at the University of Virginia in the summer of 2012. Jason holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas.
