Nicole Thorne Jenkins

Dean of the McIntire School of Commerce at University of Virginia

Nicole Thorne Jenkins is the current Dean of the McIntire School of Commerce at University of Virginia. Prior to their current role, they served as Vice Dean of the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky from 2012 to 2020. In this role, they were responsible for HR, budget and finance, endowment management, IT, facilities, assessment and accreditation, diversity and inclusion, alumni relations, internal marketing, and the research enterprise. Nicole has also held positions as an Associate Professor of Accounting at Vanderbilt University from 2007 to 2012 and Assistant Professor of Accounting at Washington University in St. Louis from 2002 to 2007. Nicole began their career as an auditor at PwC from 1992 to 1996 and then went on to work as a business litigations specialist at Coopers & Lybrand from 1989 to 1991.

Nicole Thorne Jenkins has a professional certificate in leadership from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, a Doctor of Philosophy in accounting from the University of Iowa, and a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from Drexel University. Nicole is certified by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as a CPA.
