Zara Llewellyn

Zara Llewellyn is an experienced professional in research safety and regulatory compliance, currently serving as the Assistant Director for Research and Occupational Safety at the University of Washington since 2015. Responsibilities include managing university-wide research safety programs across various domains such as biosafety, laboratory safety, and occupational health while overseeing a team of safety professionals. Previous roles include Biological Safety Manager at the University of Washington, where Zara managed biological safety programs and compliance, and Senior Project Manager for Department of Defense and Homeland Security contracts. Additional experience encompasses positions at the Institute for Systems Biology and Southern Research Institute, where Zara led research initiatives and supported senior leadership in operational processes.
