Lavar Charleston

Lavar Charleston is the current Deputy Vice Chancellor for Diversity & Inclusion & Chief Diversity Officer at University of Wisconsin. Lavar has also served as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at the School of Education, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and as an Assistant Director and Senior Research Associate at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Charleston has been a champion for diversity and inclusion throughout their career. In their current role, they are responsible for leading the charge in creating a more diverse and inclusive campus environment at University of Wisconsin. Lavar has also played a key role in conducting research on the impact of diversity and inclusion initiatives on campuses across the country.

Charleston earned their bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison and their master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Lavar Charleston has a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Ball State University. Lavar attended Cass Technical HS.

They work with Nancy Lynch - Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs, Rob Cramer - Vice Chancellor, Finance & Administration, and Steve Ackerman - Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education. Their manager is Rebecca M. Blank, Chancellor.
