Lavar Charleston is the current Deputy Vice Chancellor for Diversity & Inclusion & Chief Diversity Officer at University of Wisconsin. Lavar has also served as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at the School of Education, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and as an Assistant Director and Senior Research Associate at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Charleston has been a champion for diversity and inclusion throughout their career. In their current role, they are responsible for leading the charge in creating a more diverse and inclusive campus environment at University of Wisconsin. Lavar has also played a key role in conducting research on the impact of diversity and inclusion initiatives on campuses across the country.
