Idella Kangas (Yamben), PhD has a diverse work experience, starting in 2006 as a Committee Chair in the UW-Madison CMB Program where they led a rebranding initiative to attract and retain underrepresented minority students. Idella also worked as a Postdoc at UW-Madison and as a Consultant at Bachner Vickroy Group. In 2010, they joined Kelly Scientific Resources as a Scientific Recruiter and later became an Outreach Specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Extension. In 2011, they became a Member of Bioforward. Idella served as a Community Engagement Fellow at Frontier Fund in 2019 and as a National Institutes of Health (NIH) I-Corps mentor at the Center for Technology Commercialization in 2018. Since 2014, they have been employed at the University of Wisconsin System, where they have held various roles including Program Director, Lean Startup, Proposal Consultant and CTC Director. Their current position is Director, Economic and Employer Engagement.
Idella Kangas (Yamben), PhD completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at the University of Chicago from 1999 to 2003. Following this, they pursued their PhD in Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which they completed from 2004 to 2010.
