Parag Chitnis

VP, Research & Economic Development at University of Wyoming

Parag Chitnis currently serves as the Vice President for Research and Economic Development at the University of Wyoming, a position held since June 2022. Prior to this role, Parag Chitnis contributed to the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture from August 2014 to June 2022, where responsibilities included Associate Director, Acting Director, and Deputy Director. Parag Chitnis also spent over 12 years at the National Science Foundation, focusing on the Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences, as Division Director, Deputy Division Director, and Program Director. Academic experience includes a position as Professor and Associate Professor at Iowa State University in the Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology, and earlier roles as Assistant Professor at Kansas State University and Research Associate/Postdoctoral Fellow at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology. Parag Chitnis earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Biology from UCLA between 1983 and 1987.
