Dr. Axel Baisch

Dr. Axel Baisch MBA serves as the Managing Director at Hertie School since March 2017 and holds a visiting professor position at the University of Zurich for the Executive Master in Arts Administration program. Baisch is also a faculty member at La Scala Academy - Accademia Teatro alla Scala for the Master of Performing Arts Management and participates on the Advisory Board for the European Annual Conference of AACSB International. Baisch's legal career began in 1996 as a Rechtsanwalt, while previous leadership roles include Executive Director at Gluck-Festpiele, Chancellor at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, and Managing Director at Deutsche Oper Berlin and Staatstheater Nürnberg. Baisch holds an MBA from the University of Birmingham and several law degrees from The University of Freiburg and OLG Hamburg, alongside secondary education from institutions including Kiel University and Johanneum zu Lübeck.
