Max Welz

Max Welz is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Statistics at the University of Zurich since November 2024 and an External Researcher at Erasmus MC, focusing on lung cancer research. Max completed a PhD in Statistics at Erasmus University Rotterdam from May 2020 to October 2024, under the supervision of Patrick Groenen and Andreas Alfons. Research interests include robust statistics with non-continuous data, mathematical statistics, statistical computing, and applied statistics in medicine, psychology, and economics. Max has held various roles, including Visiting Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for fall 2023 and Teaching Assistant at the Erasmus School of Economics. Previous experience includes project management and internships in public transportation administration. Max holds a Master of Science in Econometrics from Erasmus University Rotterdam and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Mannheim.
