Beth L. Hammers

CEO at UNIVERSITY PHYSICIANS & SURGE ONS INC

Ms. Hammers has 30 years of experience in academic medicine administration and has served in varied roles, from graduate student to director of compliance & risk management and chief operating officer, during her tenure at Marshall Health. She is a two-time Marshall University graduate, earning both her bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in business administration from the Lewis College of Business. As chief executive officer, Ms. Hammers serves as the chief administrative officer for both the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and Marshall Health.

An active member of the Huntington community, Ms. Hammers serves on numerous boards and committees. She is president of the PROACT Board of Directors and serves on the boards of The Education Alliance, Mountain Health Clinical Solutions, Peak Health, Team for West Virginia Children, Marshall University Research Corporation and West Virginia Chamber of Commerce. She is past president of the Cabell Huntington Hospital and Mountain Health Network boards of directors.

Ms. Hammers is a recipient of the 2016 Changing the Conversation award sponsored by the Charleston-Institute Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. for her work in social action. She is also a 2003 alumna of Leadership West Virginia. In 2019, she served as a mentor for the inaugural class of John Marshall Leadership Fellows at Marshall University and was named a West Virginia Wonder Woman by WV Living magazine.
