Shykia Fields has a diverse range of work experience in event planning and management. Shykia started their career at Discovery Times Square in 2010, where they managed school groups and workshops, overseeing registrations and ensuring smooth execution of exhibitions. From 2016 to 2017, they worked at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, supporting ticketing services for the Tribeca Film Festival.
In 2017, Shykia joined Gulliver's Gate as an on-site Groups Coordinator, where they cultivated strategic relationships with schools and travel groups, negotiated contracts, and facilitated large group tours. Subsequently, they worked at CAMP from 2019 to 2023 as a Programming & Special Events Manager, leading and supporting programs and special events across multiple locations in NYC.
Currently, Shykia is employed at the University Settlement Society of New York as a Senior Events Planner. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of the annual gala, including project management, vendor selection, program development, fundraising, and day-of logistics. Shykia also manages the fundraising strategy, builds relationships with the Board of Directors and donors, and collaborates with the marketing and communications team to produce event collateral.
Shykia Fields received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre/Theater from Long Island University in the years 2001 to 2005. Following this, they pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Media & Performing Arts at Savannah College of Art and Design from 2005 to 2010.
