Frederic Vigneault has extensive experience in the field of biotechnology and biosciences. Frederic is currently serving as the Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Unravel Biosciences, a role they took on in October 2021. In addition, they are affiliated with Tufts University and the University of Massachusetts Boston, starting in December 2021.
Before their current positions, Vigneault worked at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering as a Visiting Scholar from October 2010. During their time there, they also served as a Senior Staff Scientist, contributing to various research areas such as molecular biology, synthetic biology, translational research, and technology development. Frederic has expertise in multiple areas including next-gen sequencing, genome editing, metabolic engineering, automation, and super-resolution imaging, among others. Vigneault holds several licensed patents and has contributed to advancements in transcriptional research and therapeutic discovery for CNS disorders.
Prior to joining the Wyss Institute, Vigneault worked as a Computational Biologist at SRI International from September 2008 to June 2010. Frederic was involved in immune pathway modeling, disease protein signaling pathway modeling, bioinformatics, technology consulting, IT support, grant writing, and team management.
Their earlier experience includes a role as a Research Affiliate at the Laurentian Forestry Center, Natural Resources Canada from September 2006 to September 2008.
Frederic Vigneault obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biology from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, graduating in 1999. Frederic then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at Concordia University, completing their studies in 2002. Continuing their academic journey, Frederic Vigneault achieved a PhD in Molecular Biology from Université Laval, where they conducted research from 2002 to 2008.
