Kunal Dhar

Kunal Dhar is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in program management, policy development, and governance within various international organizations. Currently serving as Deputy Director - Programmes at UNRWA since June 2022, Kunal previously held the position of Senior Expert at Ecorys and spent over 13 years at UNDP in various leadership roles. Notably, Kunal led the "Law and Order Multi Partner Trust Fund for Afghanistan," managing an annual budget of USD 400 million, and played a pivotal role in establishing the "Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme" in eastern Ukraine, mobilizing over USD 40 million in funding. Kunal's expertise also includes coordinating recovery efforts in South Sudan with a portfolio exceeding USD 130 million, as well as overseeing significant governance reform initiatives in Ethiopia, which included the establishment of the "Democratic Institutions Programme." Kunal holds a Master's in Public Administration specializing in International Development and a Bachelor's in Political Science with a focus on International Relations, both obtained from Carleton University.
