Catarina “Cat” Gonçalves

Catarina "Cat" Gonçalves has extensive work experience in the field of visual effects. Catarina “Cat” began their career in 2014, working as a Rotoscope Artist for Pulse Films and Independent film. In the same year, they also worked as a Clean Up Artist for a Student Film and as a Programming Assistant for the Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival.

In 2015, Cat joined Double Negative TV as a 2D Runner, where they performed various tasks such as cleaning, restocking, and maintaining the kitchens in the building, as well as sorting and distributing internal and external mail. Catarina “Cat” also worked as an Assistant Colourist, utilizing software to create and edit timelines with client QTs.

Between 2015 and 2016, they worked at Encore as a 2D Generalist, showcasing their skills in visual effects.

From 2016 to 2019, Cat worked for DNEG in various roles including RotoPrep Artist, Comp Trainee, Roto Supervisor, and Roto Trainer. Catarina “Cat” gained experience in roto and compositing, and also took on supervisory and training responsibilities.

In 2019, they joined One of Us as a Compositor and continued in the same role until 2023. During their time at One of Us, they further enhanced their expertise in compositing.

In 2023, Cat joined Electric Theatre Collective as a Digital Compositor for a brief period before moving on to Untold Studios, where they currently work as a Visual Effects Artist.

Throughout their career, Cat has consistently demonstrated their passion and expertise in visual effects, continuously expanding their skill set and taking on new challenges in the field.

Catarina "Cat" Gonçalves has a diverse education background. In 2009, they attended Universidade Nova de Lisboa and studied Computer Science for a year. Afterwards, from 2010 to 2013, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Audiovisual & Multimedia at Escola Superior de Comunicação Social. Following that, in 2014, they attended Escape Studios for a short period to gain expertise in Advanced Compositing for Visual Effects.
