Amy Wood's work experience includes various roles in the field of early childhood education. Amy started their career in 1999 as a Lead Preschool Teacher at BRAZORIA COUNTY HEAD START EARLY LEARNING SCHOOLS INC and worked in this role until 2004. Amy then joined Brazosport College as a Lead Preschool Teacher from 2004 to 2008. In 2009, Amy worked as a Paraprofessional Level III at Brazosport Independent School District until 2012. Amy returned to Brazosport College in 2012 and served as a Lead Preschool Teacher until 2016. From 2014 to 2022, they held the position of Executive Director at Gulf Coast Chapter of Texas Association for the Education of Young Children. In 2018, they became an Adjunct Professor at University of Houston-Clear Lake. In 2019, Amy took on the role of Executive Coordinator at Texas Association of Administrators and Supervisors of Programs for Young Children. Most recently, they have been working as the Education Coordinator at Upbring since 2019 and was promoted to the role of Director Of Partnerships in November 2021.
Amy Wood completed their Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Teaching at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2014. Amy then went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Education from the same university, completing it in 2017. In addition to their formal education, Amy has obtained several certifications, including being a certified Pre-K CLASS Observer from Teachstone in November 2019, a Childcare Health Consultant from Healthy Childcare Texas in October 2019, a CDA PD Specialist from The Council for Professional Recognition in August 2019, and being a Texas Trainer Registry participant from the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development Systems, also in August 2019.
