Wei Sun

Wei Sun has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. In 2012, they worked as a Ph.D. Candidate at UCLA Active Materials Laboratory, where they focused on developing thermal energy harvesting devices and multiferroic RF antennas. During this time, they also collaborated with research centers at UC Berkeley, MIT, Stanford, NIST, and others. In 2015, Wei joined Apple as an iOS Motion Engineer, specializing in health and fitness motion technologies for the Apple Watch and iPhone. Wei contributed to data science, algorithm development, machine learning, and software testing/validation. In 2020, Wei became the CTO at Upduo, where they held this role until 2023. Then, they transitioned to the position of CEO at the same company.

Wei Sun obtained a Bachelor of Science (SB) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Wei then pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at UCLA from 2011 to 2012. Subsequently, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering at UCLA between 2012 and 2015.
