Luís Patrão

Luís Patrão has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Luís is currently working at UpHill Health as the Head of Medical Education and is also a Co-Founder of the company. Prior to this, they worked at Centro Hospitalar Tondela-Viseu, E.P.E. as an Intensivist and Internist, and as an Internal Medicine Physician. Luís also had a role as a Resident - Internal Medicine at the same hospital.

In addition to their clinical experience, Luís Patrão has been involved in medical education and simulation. Luís worked as an Invited Assistant at Universidade da Beira Interior, where they served as the Executive Coordinator of the Clinical Skills Lab and conducted workshops on medical education. Luís was also a Simulation Coordinator at Hands On Education and a Visiting Faculty at the Faculty of Medicine, Porto University, where they taught courses on Clinical Simulation.

Furthermore, Luís Patrão has served as a Faculty member for EuSim Group and as a Simulation Instructor at Centro de Simulação Biomédica, Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra. Luís started their medical career as a Júnior doctor - Intern at Centro Hospitalar Cova da Beira, E.P.E.

Luís Patrão obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine from Universidade da Beira Interior, where they studied from 2003 to 2009. Luís also holds several additional certifications and qualifications. In 2010, they became a Physician through the Portuguese Medical Association - Ordem dos Médicos. Luís further specialized in Internal Medicine and became an Internal Medicine Specialist in April 2016. In July 2012, Luís obtained a Certificate in Medical Education, specifically in Essential Skills in Medical Education, from AMEE - An International Association for Medical Education. Luís also completed training to become a Medical Simulation Instructor from EuSim Group in February 2013. In January 2013, they became an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support Instructor certified by the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association. Luís Patrão acquired the title of Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) Instructor from The Royal College of Surgeons of England in April 2019. Luís also completed the Focused Echocardiography in Emergency Life Support Course from the Resuscitation Council UK in January 2020. In November 2018, they obtained the European Trauma Course (Operational + Potential Instructor) certification from ERC European Resuscitation Council. Their recent certifications include Diplom CURSO AVANÇADO EM COORDENAÇÃO DE TRANSPLANTAÇÃO, obtained from the Donation and Transplantation Institute (DTI Foundation) in October 2021, and Associate Fellow of the Association for Medical Education in Europe which they achieved from AMEE - An International Association for Medical Education in September 2015.
