David Hughes

David Hughes is an experienced educator currently serving as a Digital Design Teacher and Long Term Substitute Teacher at Uplift Education since October 2018. Previous roles include Team Lead Teacher at the Institute of Technology and Academics and Student Intervention Specialist at Milwaukee Public Schools. David began a career in education with AmeriCorps as a City Year Corps Member. Educational leadership includes serving as President of the Black Student Union at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where management of a $13,000 budget and strategic event planning were key responsibilities. David has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and is pursuing a Comptia A+ Certification in Information Technology through Per Scholas. Recognition includes being awarded best College Coach in 2010 for efforts in helping low-income students transition to college.
