Mikael Carstensen is the current CEO of Uppsala Municipality Skolfastigheter AB and has been in this role since June 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Program Director and Process Leader for the municipality's local supply from May 2019 to June 2021. In this role, they were responsible for monitoring the environment and driving development for the program area (preschool to high school) at a municipal level in order to achieve higher target fulfillment, by providing conditions and creating incentives. This included ensuring local and competence supply in strong growth as well as working for the digitalization of the educational system in Örebro municipality.
Carstensen has also been a member of several boards and committees including the steering group for RUC (Regionalt utvecklingscentrum), which is a collaboration between Örebro University and the region's preschools and schools, the staff support within region Örebro län that prepares and processes cases for the regional political specific cooperation council for education, and Sveriges kommuners och regioners nationella skolchefsnätverk.
At a municipal level, Carstensen has been the process leader for Örebro municipality's combined local supply.
Mikael Carstensen has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. Mikael also has a Statliga rektorsutbildningen from Uppsala University. In addition, they have a certification from Helsingfors universitet och Reaktor in Elements of AI – Grunderna i artificiell intelligens.
