Steve Wattam

Steve Wattam has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. In 2008, they worked as a Consultant at Momote. From 2009 to 2012, they served as a Teaching Assistant at Lancaster University, where they assisted with computing undergraduate modules. Steve then joined Lancaster University again in 2013, working as a Research Assistant and later as a Senior Research Associate. In 2014, they became a Research Associate, where they designed and implemented an API for existing NLP toolchains as part of an IAM development grant. In 2015, they worked as a Lecturer in Digital Humanities at Lancaster University. In 2016, they became the Director of WAP Academic Consultancy Limited. Finally, in 2017, they joined KrakenFlex (Octopus Energy Group) as the Head of Data Science and Lead Scientist.

Steve Wattam received their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science Innovation from Lancaster University. Steve then pursued a Masters of Research (M.Res) in Applied Social Statistics at the same university from 2009 to 2010. Subsequently, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computational Linguistics and Applied Statistics from Lancaster University, completing their doctoral studies in 2015.
