Emiko Kurotsu

Emiko Kurotsu currently serves as the Director and Assistant General Counsel at Upstart, a position held since May 2021. Prior to this role, Kurotsu was Of Counsel at Morrison & Foerster LLP from October 2016 to May 2021 and held the title of Vice President and Counsel at BlackRock from February 2015 to October 2016. Kurotsu began a career in law as a Corporate Associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP from 2011 to 2015 and worked at Morningstar, Inc. as an ETFs and Investment Funds Analyst from 2004 to 2008. Academically, Kurotsu obtained a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law, graduating in the top 10% of the class as part of the Order of the Coif, and holds an A.B. in International Studies with Honors from the University of Chicago, in addition to education from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a degree from George School with an International Baccalaureate.
