Alex FitzGerald has extensive experience in accounting and finance, currently serving as the Senior Director of Accounting Shared Services at Upwork since August 2025. Prior roles include Senior Director of Accounting Operations at Coupa, where responsibilities encompassed leading global accounting operations in over 30 countries and designing a scalable global payroll framework. Alex also held positions at Spotify as Director of Accounting Business Excellence and Transformation, focusing on finance process excellence and staff training, and at Twitter, where teams for revenue operations were established across various regions. Earlier career experiences include roles at Attachmate, Novell, and as VP of Business Development at a startup. Alex holds an ACMA CGMA in Accounting and Corporate Finance and a degree in Business Studies Management from Technological University Dublin.
