Candice Gurkin is an accomplished researcher and service industry professional with extensive experience in both academic and practical settings. Currently engaged in undergraduate research at North Carolina State University since May 2011, Candice co-initiated a project focused on utilizing the microalgae Tetraselmis chuii as a biofuel source, where significant efforts have been dedicated to establishing a vital, axenic culture. Previous experience includes an internship at Renaissance Dental Center from June 2009 to June 2011, where Candice observed dental procedures and assisted with sterilizations and office tasks. Additionally, Candice has been involved in the service industry with Urban Food Group since March 2005. Candice holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, Genetics, and Microbiology from North Carolina State University, obtained between 2008 and 2011.
