Maia Berlow

Maia Berlow currently serves as a Senior State & Local Government Affairs Advisor at the Urban Institute since December 2023. From September 2019 to January 2024, Maia was the Deputy Chief of Staff & Legislative Director for the New York State Senate, where responsibilities included managing the Senate Judiciary Committee, legislative drafting, and advocating for priorities such as criminal justice and civil rights. Prior roles include serving as a Sexual and Reproductive Rights Advocate Trainer at Amnesty International USA, coordinating human rights activism as a Student Activist Coordinator, and interning at the Project On Government Oversight and Terra Peninsular. Maia’s educational background includes recent participation as a Kriegel Fellow at The City University of New York and graduating from Columbia University in 2018.
