Brett is from Hoover, Alabama. He attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2006. After college, Brett moved back to Birmingham and started a career at UAB as a research assistant within the department of surgery. His research focused primarily on islet cell transplantation. Brett later attended UAB’s School of Nursing and went on to work as an RN on the surgical intensive care unit. In addition, Brett pursued additional certification as a Registered Nurse First Assistant. Brett ultimately received his MSN from UAB with a focus in acute care in 2016. He has been working in orthopedics over the past 5 years and is excited about his transition to UCA.
Brett currently lives in the Birmingham area with his wife Bailey, daughter Parker, and their two dogs. He enjoys playing golf during his free time and loves yearly ski trips out west.
