Austin Matthews has a diverse work experience that spans various industries and roles. Austin most recently worked at Ursa Major as a Lead Test Engineer and previously served as a Test Conductor. Prior to their work at Ursa Major, Austin served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Ben T. Zinn Combustion lab in the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they designed and built a high-pressure windowed combustor test stand for gas turbine thermoacoustic analysis. Austin also gained experience as a Combustion Engineering Intern at Solar Turbines. Austin was a member of the Capstone Design Team at the United States Air Force and served as an Undergraduate Student and Peer Led Undergraduate Study (PLUS) Leader at Georgia Institute of Technology. Austin has interned at Tesla as a Mechanical Engineering Intern and at Caterpillar Inc. as a Design Engineering Intern. Austin also led the mechanical design and testing of a hybrid-electric drivetrain conversion on a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro as the Mechanical Systems Team Lead for the Georgia Tech EcoCAR 3 project. Austin's experience also includes working as a Reliability Engineer Co-op at LyondellBasell.
Austin Matthews has a Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they obtained from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution between 2015 and 2019. Austin completed their high school education at Clear Lake High School from 2011 to 2015, where they received their HS Diploma. In addition to their degrees, they have also obtained certifications as an Engineer-In-Training from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in June 2020, as well as a Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer from NI (National Instruments) in September 2020.
