E. Alfonso Romero-Sandoval is an experienced academic and researcher specializing in pain mechanisms and therapeutic strategies. Currently serving as Co-Chair of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equality, and Access Committee at the US Association for the Study of Pain since June 2021, Romero-Sandoval also holds the positions of Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor-in-Chief at Dove Medical Press's Journal of Pain Research since December 2016. As an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine since April 2017, Romero-Sandoval has contributed significantly to the field of pain research. Previous roles include Director of Research and Associate Professor at Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy, Pain Scholar at the Rita Allen Foundation, and Assistant Professor at Dartmouth Medical School. Romero-Sandoval holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Pain, and Pharmacology from Universidad de Alcalá and an M.D. from Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala.
