Ethan Hessl currently serves as a Physical Scientist at the US Environmental Protection Agency since June 2023. Prior to this role, Ethan was a High School Science Teacher at Oakland Unified School District from July 2020 to June 2023, where over 140 students were taught annually, and a curriculum for NEST physiology classes was developed to support English language acquisition for refugee and immigrant students. Additionally, Ethan was a member of OTACA, collaborating on a student-action research project focused on air quality and asthma in East Oakland, and worked as a Soccer Coach with Soccer Without Borders from November 2021 to May 2023, serving 35+ refugee and immigrant youth. Earlier experience includes a position as a Research Assistant at the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California, Berkeley, where a publication analyzing drinking water data was co-authored. Ethan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Environmental Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, completed in 2020.
