Young Joe is a highly experienced professional specializing in language access, human rights, and interpreting education. Currently serving as a Certified Human Rights Consultant at the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights since September 2024, Young Joe has also held the position of Language Access Consultant and Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategist at Bilinguals International since January 2015. With extensive experience as a Certified Medical Interpreter at the Provincial Health Services Authority and as an instructor at The Interpreter's Lab, Young Joe focuses on teaching medical and community interpreting, as well as professional ethics. Additional roles include a sessional instructor at Simon Fraser University and The University of British Columbia, and leadership positions within the Society of Translators and Interpreters of BC. Young Joe holds multiple degrees in International Relations and Translation and Interpreting from Macquarie University, alongside a Post Graduate Diploma from Korea University. Currently, Young Joe is also engaged in the RADIUS Fellowship at Simon Fraser University and studies at ESSEC Business School.
