Mark Richardson

Chief Executive Officer at U.S. Light Energy

Mark Richardson has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Mark currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of US Light Energy, a position they have held since May 2018. Mark is also the Chairman of the C&I Policy Committee at the New York Solar Energy Industries Association since January 2022. Prior to these roles, they were the CEO at Solitude Solar, LLC from May 2016. Mark has also held positions at US Light Energy, starting as the Director of Technology from February 2014 to April 2015, and then becoming the Vice President of Operations from May 2015 to September 2016. Before their time at US Light Energy, Mark worked at New York Light Energy as a Production Manager from March 2011 to February 2014. Mark has also served as a Renewable Energy Consultant at Kaaterskill Associates from October 2010 to May 2011 and as the Director of Energy and Housing at Dutchess Community Action Partnership from January 2010 to May 2010. Mark began their career as the President of Plateau Construction, Inc. from April 1995 to January 2010 and as a Production Manager / Chief Estimator at Peak Construction from January 2008 to February 2008. Mark also gained engineering experience as an Assistant Engineer at W.A. Scribner Engineering from April 2006 to December 2006.

Mark Richardson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from The University of Georgia from 1988 to 1992. Mark later pursued a Master's degree in the Business of Energy at Clarkson University Graduate School starting in 2015, which is still in progress. In 2013, Mark earned a Lean Six Sigma Masters Certificate from Villanova University. Prior to that, from 2007 to 2010, they attended Hudson Valley Community College, where they obtained a BPI (Building Analyst w/ Envelope) degree. Mark also studied Microelectronics/Physics at DePaul University from 1986 to 1988, without receiving a degree. In addition to their academic qualifications, Mark holds several certifications, including a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University in 2014 and a Certified Building Analyst and Certified Envelope Professional from the Building Performance Institute in 2010. Mark also has certifications in Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified PV Technical Sales Professional, and Certified Solar PV Installer from various institutions in the years preceding 2013.
