Eric Litke has a strong background in journalism and fact-checking. Eric started their career as a reporting intern at Green Bay Press-Gazette in 2004. Eric then worked as a reporter at The Sheboygan Press, covering cops and courts from 2005 to 2012. In 2012, they joined Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK as an investigative reporter, specializing in data-based projects and writing in-depth investigative stories. In 2016, Litke moved to PolitiFact Wisconsin, initially as a reporter and later as the lead Wisconsin reporter, responsible for fact-checking, mentoring younger reporters, and managing online, print, and social media production. In 2019, they joined Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as a data reporter before returning to USA TODAY as the Fact-Check Editor in 2021. Currently, they hold the position of Lead Fact-Check Editor at USA TODAY, where they manage a team of reporters addressing misinformation on social media. Eric is responsible for approving story pitches, editing stories, coaching and developing reporters, and ensuring the consistency, fairness, and thoroughness of their stories.
Eric Litke earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication-Journalism from the University of Northwestern — St. Paul in the years 2002 to 2005. Later, from 2016 to 2021, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Data Science at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
