Gabrielle Banks

Gabrielle Banks currently serves as Health Editor at USA TODAY, a position held since September 2023. Prior to this role, Gabrielle worked at the Houston Chronicle from April 2015 to September 2023, where responsibilities included serving as Assistant Metro Editor and Staff Reporter. An adjunct faculty member at USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism from August 2013 to August 2015, Gabrielle also contributed as a researcher for author David Maraniss between 2011 and August 2014. Earlier experience includes working as a Criminal Justice Reporter for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette from March 2005 to September 2013, and various writing and editing roles from 1998 to 2005. Additional positions held include an internship at the Los Angeles Times in 2004, being a Senior Writer at ColorLines Magazine from 2002 to 2003, and being a Contributor to The New York Times in 2001. Gabrielle holds an MS in Journalism from Columbia University and an MA/BA in Education/English from Stanford University.
