Gina Barton

Gina Barton is an accomplished investigative reporter with extensive experience in journalism. Currently employed at USA TODAY since February 2021, Barton develops, plans, and executes long-term projects while also assisting with breaking news investigations. Previously, Barton worked at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel from May 2001 to January 2021, focusing on criminal justice as an investigative reporter and assistant metro editor, where mentorship of beat reporters was a key responsibility. Barton's career also includes a reporting position at the Indianapolis Star from 2000 to 2002. Educationally, Barton holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Master's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Indiana University South Bend.
