Director Of Sport Science And Coach Development at USA Weightlifting

Anna Swisher has a diverse range of work experience in the field of sport science, coaching, and education. Anna is currently the Director of Sport Science and Coach Development at USA Weightlifting, a role they have held since January 2023. Prior to this, they were the Coach Development and Sport Science Manager at USA Weightlifting from June 2018 to February 2023.

Before joining USA Weightlifting, Anna worked as a Sport Nutrition Consultant at Renaissance Periodization from September 2016. Anna also had a significant tenure at Eleiko Sport Inc, where they served as the Director of Education and Performance from 2016 to May 2018. Prior to that, they were the Education Coordinator and Instructor at the same company, where they co-created educational programs and managed education in North America starting from 2013.

Anna's earlier experiences include working as a Doctoral Student at East Tennessee State University from August 2013 to an unspecified end date. During this time, they completed their doctoral degree in Sport Physiology with a focus on Sport Performance, conducted research, and taught courses.

Before pursuing their doctoral degree, Anna worked as a Professor at Western State College from September 2009 to July 2013. Anna also served as an Assistant Track and Field Coach during this time, where they coached throwing events and handled strength and conditioning duties.

Anna's work experience also includes a role as a Graduate Research Assistant at ETSU from July 2007 to May 2009, where they completed their MA in Exercise Physiology and Performance.

Their earliest documented experience was as an Assistant Track Coach (Men and Women) at the University of Chicago from August 2006 to July 2007.

Anna Swisher has a strong educational background in the field of physiology. Anna earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Sport Physiology from East Tennessee State University between 2013 and 2016. Prior to that, they completed their MA in Exercise Physiology at East Tennessee State University, from 2007 to 2009. Anna also holds a Bachelor's degree from Williams College, which they obtained from 2001 to 2005. Anna completed their high school education at New Trier High School from 1997 to 2001.

In addition to their degrees, Anna Swisher has obtained various certifications related to their field. In 2015, they earned the "ISAK- Level 2" certification from the International Society for Kinanthropometry. In 2011, they became an "Advanced Sport Performance Coach" accredited by USA Weightlifting. Anna also received the "Level II Throws Coach" certification from USA Track & Field in 2007. Finally, Anna is a "Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist" through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), which they obtained in 2005.
