Bret MacKay

Bret Mackay is a seasoned economist and data science professional with extensive experience in economic forecasting and risk management. Currently serving as the Director Economist and Data Science at USAA since August 2017, Bret leads the economic forecasting function and has held several director-level positions, including overseeing the Stress Test Program and Model Risk Management. Prior to USAA, Bret was the Senior Model Risk Officer at Zions Bancorporation from March 2012 to August 2017, and also served as an Assistant Professor at Brigham Young University from August 1999 to July 2007. Bret holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Utah.
