David Small

David Small, CISSP, CISM, currently serves as the Executive Director and Business Information Security Officer (BISO) at USAA since December 2025. Previously, Small held leadership roles at First Citizens Bank, overseeing the Business Information Security Office and Cyber GRC Strategy, and at SVB, where responsibilities included Governance & Remediation and Business Line CISO duties. Small's extensive experience includes serving as Chief Information Security Officer at Boston Private, where significant contributions involved the design and maintenance of the Information Security Program and oversight of compliance activities. Prior roles include senior security positions at Teradyne and State Street, focusing on network security and desktop support. Small earned an Associate degree in Computer Information Systems from Bunker Hill Community College.
