Ivan Cherkashin

Ivan Cherkashin, PhD, currently serves as the Executive Director of Data Science (AI/ML) at USAA since January 2014, following several roles including Director of Modeling and Machine Learning and Director of Quantitative Risk Management focused on Credit Risk Modeling. Ivan's extensive experience encompasses model validation, overseeing a team of analysts, and ensuring high-quality analysis within the risk department at USAA. Previously, Ivan held positions at Australian National University as an Assistant Professor researching International Trade and Labor Economics, and worked as a consultant for The World Bank. Ivan's academic credentials include a PhD in Economics from Penn State University and a Candidat Nauk from the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute, among other degrees.
