Gabriel Giancaspro

Gabriel Giancaspro, Ph.D., serves as the Charles Rice Distinguished Scientific Fellow and Head of Compendial Policy at the US Pharmacopeia since 1997, with roles as Vice President for both Dietary Supplements and Herbal Medicines and Foods. Responsibilities include managing standards for dietary supplements and botanical medicines, overseeing the USP Dietary Supplements Compendium, and the Foods Chemical Codex. As a Director, achievements include publishing the first and second editions of the USP Dietary Supplement Compendium and establishing public standards for a variety of dietary supplements. Gabriel also holds a position as an OMA Board Member and past Editorial Board Member at AOAC International since 2004. Prior to US Pharmacopeia, Gabriel was an Assistant Professor at the University of Buenos Aires from 1981 to 1997, teaching analytical drug chemistry and organic chemistry, and earned a Ph.D. in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the same institution.
