Keith E. Weidner was named general counsel and executive vice president in January 2026. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and serves as counsel to the Board of Governors.
Weidner is responsible for helping the Postal Service in all aspects of its business, including its rationalization plans, price setting, product development and other business and strategic initiatives. He manages a complex legal department with branch offices in 17 major metropolitan areas nationwide.
Weidner’s scope of responsibility includes procurement and property law, corporate and postal business law, employment and labor law, torts, and legal strategy and policy. The Law Department participates in litigation in the federal appellate and district courts and before regulatory and administrative tribunals, and helps Postal Service clients with labor negotiations, legislative and international matters, and matters concerning freedom of information and privacy. The Office of General Counsel also addresses legal issues involving intellectual property, revenue protection and compliance with environmental laws.
Before, Weidner served as deputy general counsel for Headquarters, where he oversaw a wide range of legal practice areas that included procurement and property law, corporate and postal business law, legal strategy and legislative advice, and provided comprehensive business advice to the leadership of the Postal Service.
Weidner joined the Postal Service in 2004 as an honors attorney. He served as an attorney in the Legal Policy and Ratemaking organization and as the chief counsel of Legal Policy and Legislative Advice.
Weidner holds a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Florida State University. He has completed the Executive Foundations and Executive Leadership Programs and is a graduate of the Senior Executive Assessment Development Center.
