John Varilek

John Varilek has extensive work experience in the United States Air Force and United States Strategic Command. John most recently served as the Chief of the Nuclear Mission Planning Division at the United States Strategic Command. Prior to that, they held roles such as Commander at the 608 Air Operations Center and Division Chief at the Air Force Global Strike Operations Center Strategic Plans. John also has experience as a Graduate Student at the Air War College, Chief of the Standoff Munitions Application Center, and Director of Operations for the 11BS. Earlier in their career, they served as a Strike Advisor at the United States Strategic Command and as a student at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology. John began their career in the United States Air Force as a B-52 student, co-pilot, aircraft commander, and instructor pilot, and they also served in roles as a UPT student, B-1 student, WSO/IWSO, and navigator student.

John Varilek has a strong educational background, with a focus on strategic studies, systems engineering, aeronautics/aviation/aerospace science and technology, and meteorology. In 1998, they obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Later, from 2006 to 2011, they pursued a Master's Degree in Aeronautics/Aviation/Aerospace Science and Technology, General from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In 2010 and 2011, they attended the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology, earning a Master's Degree in Systems Engineering. Most recently, in 2019, they completed studies at the USAF Air Command and Staff College, specializing in Strategic Studies.
