Salma Quraishi, PhD, currently serves as the Sr. Director of Strategic Research Initiatives at UT Health San Antonio, a position held since January 2024. Prior to this role, Quraishi was a Health Scientist Administrator at the National Institutes of Health from February 2022 to January 2024, where responsibilities included serving as the Designated Federal Official/Scientific Review Officer for the Neural Basis of Psychopathology, Addictions and Sleep Disorders Study Section. Additionally, Quraishi hosted and produced the Neuroscientists Talk Shop Podcast from 2007 to May 2022, highlighting research from leading neuroscientists. From January 2005 to February 2022, Quraishi was an Assistant Professor and Associate Director at the UTSA Neurosciences Institute, focused on collaborative research on the biological underpinnings of human behavior and nervous system diseases. Quraishi completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Retinal Electrophysiology at Oregon Health & Science University from 2001 to 2005 and holds a PhD from Rutgers University and a BA from Columbia University.
