Femke Goutbeek

Femke Goutbeek is a seasoned communication advisor with extensive experience in geosciences and sustainability initiatives. Since May 2020, Femke serves as a Senior Communication Advisor at Universiteit Utrecht, focusing on promoting the faculty of Geosciences and the strategic theme of Pathways to Sustainability to foster a livable and sustainable world. Prior to this role, Femke worked at the Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Instituut (KNMI) from January 2006 to May 2020, where positions included spokesperson, communication advisor, and seismologist, engaging with media and the public regarding seismic research and risks in the Netherlands. Earlier experience includes a role as a project assistant at ORFEUS, contributing to the advancement of seismology in Europe. Femke holds an MSc in Geophysics with a specialization in Seismology from Utrecht University as well as a degree in Senior Communication Advisor from Van der Hilst Communicatie.
