Niels Hartog

Niels Hartog is a Principal Scientist for Geohydrology at KWR Water Research Institute since November 2012, overseeing scientific quality and representing the team in KWR's Scientific Council. Niels also serves as a Guest Associate Professor in Environmental Hydrogeology at Utrecht University, collaborating on sustainable water and energy research. Niels leads the Urban Managed Aquifer Recharge working group within the International Association of Hydrogeologists, where efforts focus on facilitating urban MAR applications. Niels has held various positions in academic and research institutions, including a previous role as a Senior Research Consultant at Deltares and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Waterloo, with a doctoral degree in Hydrogeochemistry from Utrecht University. Research interests encompass groundwater quality, sustainable subsurface technologies, and the prevention of contamination, among other themes.
