Dean Hermitage has a diverse work experience in the planning and development management sector. Dean began their career as a Planning Officer at Thurrock Council in 2003 and worked there until 2007. Dean then joined Southend Borough Council, where they held various roles including Senior Planner, Borough Wide Team Leader, and Group Manager in the Planning and Building Control department from 2007 to 2017. In 2017, they moved to Haringey Council and served as the Head of Development Management and Planning Enforcement until 2021. From 2021 to 2022, Dean worked as the Deputy Director (Planning Casework) at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Planning at Uttlesford District Council.
Dean Hermitage completed a Master's degree in Geography at Kingston University in or before 2003. Following that, they pursued further education at the University of Westminster from 2004 to 2007, where they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Town Planning.
