Muammar Al-Shedivat

Muammar Al-Shedivat has a diverse work experience in the field of technology and education. Muammar began their career as a Summer Research Intern at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in 2014. Muammar then worked as a Software Developer Internship at Yandex, where they developed new techniques to improve confidence estimations in ASR systems. As a Junior Software Developer at Yandex, they achieved significant improvements in alignment text with audio and conducted experiments in phrase spotting. Muammar also served as a Lecturer at Yandex School of Data Analysis and National Research University, where they taught practical NLP lectures, designed course goals and tasks, and checked student assignments.

In 2017, Muammar joined Facebook as a Software Engineer, where they worked on real-time data infrastructure and highly scalable distributed streaming systems. Muammar stayed with Facebook until 2020 before transitioning to Twitter as a Software Engineer. At Twitter, they were involved in software engineering tasks until 2023.

Currently, Muammar holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at UvU Shuttle, a role they took up in February 2023.

Muammar Al-Shedivat received their Bachelor's degree in Linear groups from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) from 2011 to 2017. Additionally, they pursued a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Computer Science from the Yandex School of Data Analysis from 2013 to 2015.
