Prof Elizabeth (Liz) Archer has a strong background in institutional research and data analysis. Prof Elizabeth (Liz) has served in various roles at different universities, including the University of the Western Cape, where they are currently the Director of Institutional Research. Prior to this, Prof Archer worked as a computer aided qualitative data analysis consultant, providing consultation and training on research methodology, with a focus on computer-aided qualitative data analysis. Prof Elizabeth (Liz) has also held positions as an academic researcher and specialist institutional researcher at the University of South Africa and the University of Pretoria, respectively. Throughout their career, Prof Archer has published numerous articles, book chapters, conference papers, and a technical report, contributing to the field's knowledge on data use, Big Data, and Learning Analytics.

Prof Elizabeth (Liz) Archer completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education from the University of Pretoria, which they pursued from 2006 to 2010. Prof Elizabeth (Liz) later obtained a Master's degree in Educational Psychology from the same university in 2011. Prior to that, they earned a Matric degree from Bergsig in 1996. Additionally, they hold a Bachelor of Psychology degree from the University of Pretoria, although no specific dates were provided for this qualification.
