Maarten van de Velde

Maarten Van de Velde is a rehabilitation physiotherapist currently employed at UZ Gent since July 2020. Prior experience includes serving as supporting teaching staff at KU Leuven from November 2019 to July 2021, and working as a physiotherapist at AZ Sint-Lucas Brugge for a brief period in 2019. Maarten has also held various roles in a family business, Mi Gusto Trattoria, from 2007 to October 2019, where duties included waiter and sous-chef. Additional experience includes a position at UZ Leuven in 2016-2017, acting as a replacement for the head physiotherapist on the amputation ward, and a research role at KU Leuven’s Faculty of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences focused on foot kinematic patterns related to tendon dysfunction. Maarten holds multiple degrees in rehabilitation, including a Master's degree in Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy from Ghent University and another Master's degree in Rehabilitation for Neurological Disorders from KU Leuven, along with a Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Science. Education was completed at Sint-Pieterscollege, Blankenberge, focusing on Science and Mathematics.
