Karin Haustermans

Karin Haustermans serves as the Medical Director of the Protontherapy Center PARTICLE and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at UZ Leuven, where Karin has been since October 2009. As a Professor of Medicine at KU Leuven since November 1998, Karin also chairs the Department of Oncology. Additional roles include Clinical Editor for Radiotherapy & Oncology at Elsevier, and active membership in various organizations such as the Royal Academy of Medicine and the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), where Karin serves on the Scientific Council and as Treasurer. Karin has held leadership positions in cancer-related boards and has accumulated extensive experience as a fundamental clinical researcher. Educational qualifications include a PhD focused on tumor cell kinetics in esophageal cancer and a Health Leadership & Innovation degree from INSEAD.
